30 Day Film Challenge. Day 22

The Matrix Revolutions. In 1999 The Wachowski's created The Matrix. It was mindblowing stuff. So original, so creative, so exciting. The kind of movie you'd go see 2 and 3 times just so you could talk to your friends about it. A film that entered daily discourse instantly, everyone had their take on it and nearly everyone loved it. 4 years later the 2nd sequel came out and it was so bad that it killed the franchise in it's tracks (well for 17 years). Pretentious, wanky, mindnumbingly boring, pseudo intellectual, pseudo spiritual bollocks. So bad it retroactively ruined the first film. Plot and previous films went out the window, in came soulless spectacle and the cringiest sex scene of the decade. I left it after an hour, one of only 4 occasions in my life where I've left a film early. The burly brawl was the straw that broke the camel's back. A pointless CGI orgy of nonsense. If you're going to do something like that at least make sure it looks good and...this....did....not.

I walked home raging. 2003 me took things way too seriously.
