I bought this monday and finished it today. Its brilliant. A book that would challenge long held ideas put in your head by subpar ITV dramas, godawful Jess Franco films and shitty Johnny Depp films. Unlike those penny dreadfuls this book gives agency to the women, turning them into living breathing individuals who fell afoul of a murdering bastard instead of being depicted as sleazy streetwalkers who deserved what they got. Its an excellent history lesson too. A look at systemic poverty and the misogyny that can arise from it.
Seriously worth picking up.
