Aretha Franklin sadly passed away in August at the age of 76 but man alive what a musical legacy she left behind. She was a massively talented woman who singing career lasted 61 years but she was also known to dip into acting at times too. This scene of her as Mrs Murphy singing 'Think' from the 1980 classic 'The Blues Brothers' just rocks.
Brilliant ain't it. Her instant disdain for Jake and Elwood. Her take no shit attitude. Her pronunciation of DRY WHITE TOAST. Her reaction when she realises her husband Matt has the itch to go with them on tour. The argument that inevitably bursts into song at her tired resignation that her husband is going to do what he wants no matter what she says. So she wants the final word. To let him know in no uncertain terms that he'd better realise the effect his choice is going to have on their marriage. The song she sings was 12 years old when this film was made but you'd think it was written for the movie with the way it fits so perfectly into the scene.

Aretha's a force of nature here. With a voice so powerful that everyone, even the scumbag Blues Brothers, feel compelled to dance. In under 5 minutes she creates an immense character who deserved her own film. She was something else wasn't she. She'll be missed always.
