A perfect pairing of sound & vision. A classic song is born during Straight Outta Compton

A fantastic scene in the middle of a pretty good film about the world's most controversial rap group, N.W.A. The scene where we see the genesis of Nuthin But A 'G' Thang, a hip hop classic.

I love stuff like this, seeing the moment a piece of art comes alive, the realisation that the disparate elements of a song will come together when it gets that one special ingredient. Here that ingredient is Snoop Doggy Dogg and his lyrical genius.

Yes, I know this is no doubt a very idealised version of real events but that doesn't stop it being a joy. Dr Dre's keyboard fiddling, that musical hook almost recognisable and the serendipitous appearance of Snoop who loves what's he's hearing just as Dre nails it. Then to top it all off it's done in one continuous take too.

Perfick as Pop Larkin used to say.

Here's the full song btw.

The No Vaseline song scene was massive too.
