A young woman named Emily is thought to be possessed and an exorcism is performed to rid her of evil. But that's only the start of Father Moore's troubles. An unsettling watch with a lead performance from Jennifer Carpenter that will get under your skin. A tense, compelling and surprisingly down to earth watch considering the subject matter. The always reliable Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson round out the cast.

Nick is the king of his job in the high pressure environment of air traffic control. New arrival Russell rocks up and throws Nick's well ordered life into disarray. A blackly amusing watch from an era when John Cusack was the go to guy for a good time. However he's totally overshadowed here by a manic Billy Bob Thornton as Russell. Cate Blanchett and Angelina Jolie play a pair of spouses who deserved a film of their own.

Bill and Charlie become friends in a casino and decide to go on a gambling trip together. At first it's a casual thing for Bill but Charlie starts to influence his ways. 70's Robert Altman movies were always excellent and this is a prime example of his work. A comedy that slowly turns into a look into the darker side of America. George Segal and Elliot Gould put in amazing work here.

Vera meets Joey. Joey has feelings for Vera. Joey also has feelings for Linda. Linda and Vera couldn't be more different. Joey doesn't know what he's playing at at all. An enjoyable slice of lovely looking Technicolor musical fun from the 1950's. A perfect Sunday afternoon watch as we see poor little Frank Sinatra torn between Rita Hayworth and Kim Novak in a glorious looking San Francisco.

Bodies are popping up all over London and it's up to Sherlock Holmes to figure out what is going on. There is of course far more to the crimes than meets the eye. Basil Rathbone's 11th time as Sherlock Holmes makes for a very entertaining watch. Clever, twisty and turny, darkly funny and as always well acted by Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Holmes. Plus its under 70 minutes long. Perfect.
Hell Or High Water Mon 15/10 Film4 @ 21.00
Two brothers traverse the state of Texas robbing banks. On their trail are two veteran Texas rangers. It's only a matter of time before their paths cross. This modern take on the western genre from 2016 is a fantastic watch. Gripping, exciting, emotional and extremely topical. Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Jeff Bridges and Gil Bermingham as the leads put in flawless performances.
The Way Of The Gun Mon 15/10 TG4 @ 21.30
A pregnant woman is kidnapped by two scumbags who plan to use her for ransom. The only problem is the surrogate father of the child and everyone he employs are also scumbags. Christopher McQuarrie's debut is a blistering watch with an opening scene for the ages. If you can get past that you're in for a wild ride. Wicked cast too including Juliette Lewis, Benicio Del Toro, James Caan and Ryan Phillipe.

It's that time again. Stath O'Clock. Mei is a young girl with important information in her head and the only man who can protect her from dodgy Russian mobsters, dodgy Chinese Triads and dodgy cops is Luke Wright. Boaz Yakin's 2012 thriller is a blast. Crunchy, silly, nasty and filled with cleverly shot action and solid one liners. Jason Statham does his usual thing well and is ably supported by Anson Mount and Catherine Chan.

Mavis hasn't been home in a long long time but when her life goes awry she decides to go back to where it all started to see some old acquaintances. Mavis is a bit of a gowl though. A brilliantly acted feel bad comedy drama about life's disappointments. It won't be for everyone but if you can stick with it there's plenty to enjoy. Charlize Theron is great in the lead role and Patton Oswalt and Patrick Wilson are fun back up.
Assault On Precinct 13 Fri 19/10 Film4 @ 22.45
The LAPD has just come down heavy on the Street Thunder Gang. The gang wants revenge. A father and his daughter are caught in the middle. Chaos ensues. John Carpenter's 1976 crime thriller might be a bit dated now but it's still a thrilling, nail biting watch that will definitely shock you if you haven't seen it before. Austin Stoker and Darwin Joston lead a mostly unknown cast in fine fashion.
