A perfect pairing of Sound & Vision - The intro to Jackass 2

The intro to Jackass 2. Ennio Morricone's iconic Ecstasy of Gold. Lowbrow American cinema and spaghetti western gorgeousness clash in a moment that goes from the sublime to the ridiculous in record time. What a combination.

Imagine going into this cold. The opening bars of that music from The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. The mysterious mist. You'd easily assume you're about to watch a Sergio Leone inspired modern western, one with cars instead of horses. Something along the lines of Hell Or High Water. Then this caption appears

just as a pack of gobshites emerges from the smoke. Chased by a herd of steers. So it is a western!! Sort of. The music suddenly makes sense and it builds and builds and as it reaches it's crescendo violence splashes across the screen. But this time it isn't Blondie taking down Angel Eyes, it's Johnny Knoxville being stampeded through a window or Dave England taking a battering inside a wheelie bin. It's like seeing famous moments from The Cattle Queen Of Montana, City Slickers and Red River interspersed with a modern act circus act.

And it's gloriously entertaining.
