A perfect pairing of sound & vision. Boogie Nights. A visit to Rahad Jackson's house.

Boogie Nights came out in 1997. It was written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson who has since gone on to make The Master, There Will Be Blood and Phantom Thread amongst others. He's a genius but for me this will always be his masterpiece. His other films are great but this manages to be both great and extremely entertaining at the same time.

Dirk (Mark Walhberg) and Brock (John C.Reilly) are porn stars. They are good at what they do. But it's the early 80's and coke is abundant. Dirk and Brock take too much coke and it affects what they do for a living. No one wants to work with porn stars who can't ......eh...... rise to the occasion. Dirk and Brock are also easily lead fools. When their friend Todd (Thomas Jane) suggests robbing a drug dealer they let themselves be talked into it. But Todd is an ill prepared fool too and soon the trio find themselves at the home of Rahad Jackson with no plan at all. Tensions are running high and a mixture of crack cocaine, fireworks and Night Ranger's brilliant song 'Sister Christian' all blend together to create one of the tensest scenes ever. Watch it below.

If you've seen this film you'll know how the scene plays out but if you haven't I urge you to track it down and fall in love with this brilliant film. If you are however an impatient person like myself you can see the climax of the scene hereBoogie Nights was loosely based on the exploits of real life actor John Holmes and this scene is very loosely based on The Wonderland Murders crime that he was caught up in. Thankfully for once the movie version doesn't go as far as real life.

Alfred Molina as Rahad is only in the film for less than 10 minutes but man he steals those 10 minutes with an absolutely manic performance. He should be in everything.
