The unsung heroes of Film & TV part 28. Bruce Greenwood.

He'd make a great Irish mammy with that death stare
This time we take a look at Bruce Greenwood. Yup. This chap. Turns up in literally everything. If you want an actor to bring gravitas to a role he's the one for you. If you want someone to play a boss, a captain, an admiral, hell even the Commander in Chief he's your guy. He's just has the head of someone you'd take an order from.

He's taken on Matlock, John Rambo, Huckleberry Finn, the passenger in seat 57 and both Jake AND the fatman. He's wooed Joan in Mad Men. He's starred in a godawful Guy Ritchie remake and remakes of classic Patrick Swayze and Orson Welles films. Been a muse of director Atom Egoyan. Voiced superheroes in animated films. Played the United States president not once, not twice but three times, one of them being none other than John Fitzgerald Kennedy. He's been in westerns, thrillers, sci-fi, children's comedies, horrors, dramas. Acted in numerous oscar winning films and numerous direct to video schlockfests. His is a career that never gets boring. He's been doing it for 40 years now and everytime he appears onscreen someone in the room will say "Ah this fella, he's a good one." He's back in cinemas next week with Spielberg's new film The Post as well. Check out his career here

The haircut maketh the man.
Greatest hits

Thirteen Days - He played JFK in this story of the Cuban Missile crisis. Check out the above pic. Scarily accurate. Good film too. Forgotten about these days and worth revisiting.

Double Jeopardy - Nick Parsons, husband of Libby, all round bastard. One of those villains where you actually relish the idea of him dying violently. A cracking little Hitchcockian tale.

Star Trek - Captain Christopher Pike. A name well known in Trek Lore. The man who controlled the Starship Enterprise and who inspired Jim Kirk. Great film. Pity about the sequel.

Gerald's Game - Here he plays the title role in Stephen Kings dark squirmy psycho drama. He's not in it much but he certainly makes an impact.
