Carlito Brigante is just out of jail. He wants to go straight but he just can't turn his back on his old life. And that includes Gail, his old flame. This scene of him falling back in love with her from afar is just a stunner. And the way the soundtrack segues from the film's theme music into The Flower Duet is just beautiful. Look at Pacino's face during it, remembering all he's lost and all he wants back. He's just something else. A perfect scene in a highly underrated film.
It's amazing how a piece of overplayed music like this can be made seem fresh and vital when it's paired with great film making ain't it.
