Fanny And Alexander. Stop laughing at the back you two. About 10 years ago I got my hands on a 3 film Ingmar Bergman boxset in an attempt to educate myself in the ways of Swedish cinema. Persona and The Seventh Seal were mindblowing, 2 films that loved up to the hype. Fanny And Alexander though. Jesus. 5 hours and 12 minutes. I had to give it a go. When I woke up the end credits were rolling. I could vaguely remember someone having a stroke and was dismayed to find out I'd slept through 4 hours of the film. I made a promise to myself that someday I'd go back and watch it all, in installments if I had to.
I've still to fulfill that promise. Some day Ingmar. Someday.
