Game Of Thrones S01 E02 - The Kingsroad

Ser Jorah. Mad about Daenerys already. One thing about her storyline. Drogo treats her literally like a dog but somehow she falls for him. Something missing in translation from book to screen?

Viserys. Boo.

Our first Tyrion/Joffrey scene. No love lost between uncle and nephew.

Couldn't you just watch this all day. Love the extreme lack of reaction from the Hound too.

Cersei's face when she realises her secrets aren't safe. Jesus she's deadly, without a doubt the most complex character on the show. The vicious wagon.

Jaime Lannister, the smug, condescending melt. Ohh I hope he gets his in the final series.

The relationship between Arya and Jon Snow is one of the few pure things in this show.

Arya and Needle. One of the shows longer running double acts.

Catelyn's hatred of Jon Snow, husband's bastard. If only she knew it was so pointless. Knowing what happens in the future adds a great layer of depth to earlier moments now.

Wait?? Is this the last time all the Starks are together? Two episodes into the show. Man alive that's brutal.

Robb Stark's pronounciation of "mother". Not the last time we'll hear that.

Ned and Jon make a promise to talk about his lineage the next time they talk..........yeah. Good luck.

Ned and King Robert lay out the main story a bit more clearly. The Targaryen's have the hump over being usurped. Ok, it's all coming back to me now.

It seems the men of the Wall aren't all as honourable as Jon. Rapists, murderers, abusers. Lovely people to surround yourself with when you aren't even capable of growing a beard.

Catelyn Stark. A great mother. Stands up for her baba's. Defending Bran against a knife that gets great use over the rest of the series.

Jesus, those Direwolves can fairly wreck an assassin's throat can't they. Whoa.

Dragon folklore from Daenerys handmaidens. Love me a bit of dragon folklore.

Our first glimpse of The Wall. Never not impressive.

One thing about these early episodes. We get to spend a lot of time with the characters because of a relatively small cast and only a handful of locations. Not like later when we flit between everyone at a ridiculous pace.

Catelyn going full Miss Marple in an effort to find out who's out for Bran. A long blonde hair piques her suspicions. Cersei, this is what happens when you let your brother go to town on your arse.

Gratuitous moment of erotica as Daenerys learns from her slave how to please a man. Leads into gratuitous Aquaman nudity designed to quell arguments about the amount of boobies on display.

Nope, still don't get how she fell for Drogo.

Sansa bumps into Ser Ilyn Payne, the man who will eventually leave her fatherless. God he's a creepy fucker. And we get our first glimpse of the duality of the Hound.

gowlbag
Arya & Sansa get their first taste of how nasty Joffrey is. Poor Micah meets his doom and we lose our first Direwolf as a consequence. Sayonara Lady. A great scene with Arya being awesome and Joffrey being a wimpy little headwreck.

The Stark's vs The Lannister's. Neither side backing down. The show in a nutshell right here.

Sansa sells her sister out. Fuck sake Sansa.

But then Robert punks out Joffrey. Always a joy.

The Lannister's really are a shower of bastards aren't they.

The Hound has killed a child. Yet we love him in later seasons. How can this be?

Boom. Bran's awake. Awake and full of Lannister secrets.

Another fine episode. Not as good as the first but all the pieces are slowing moving into place. Really enjoying this. It's great when you've so much forgotten.

Next up - Lord Snow

Series 1 - 1
