Game Of Thrones S01 E04 - Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things

Bran's having weird dreams about three eyed ravens. All this stuff is starting way earlier than I remember.

Hodor!!! Ah Hodor was great.

Robb Stark has far less patience for Tyrion than most. But for once Tyrion is being genuine. Life as a dwarf has made him accurately aware of the difficulty of not being seen as normal and Bran benefits.

Our first mention of the Iron Islands. Theon is a highly unlikable chap.

Samwell Tarly!! One of my fave characters. Sam rocks. The cruelty of life at the wall does not rock.

Ser Allister's pronounciation of bastard though. Always funny even when you want him to die constantly.

Viserys once again setting himself up for a brutal death that's coming sooner than he thinks.

I could listen to Jorah Mormont taking all day. He was one of those voices that would make anything interesting.

Gratuitous sex scene klaxon! But dragon talk too. Dragon talk is always welcome. Doreah also hints at the men with no faces and dragonglass. Loads going on here. In between the riding.

Sansa gets her first glimpse of the Iron Throne and starts to realise her life might not be as happy as she thought. Oh Sansa. You sap.

Poor Ned is stressed as fuck. Money money money - MONEY! He's not one bit comfortable in the south. Surrounded by people he doesn't trust one bit.

He goes full Poirot. But he needs to cover his tracks a little bit more. Maester Pycelle is not a person to be trifled with.

Arya's sword fighting skills are improving all the time and we get another lovely moment between her and Ned. She has no time for baba's and other things the women of Kings landing are supposed to be interested in. Good for her.

Back to the wall and Sam's tale of woe. Good to see both him and Jon make a friend though. Another glimmer of light in the darkness of the north.

Littlefinger. Ugh. Ned, how can you not see he's leading you into a trap. He just told you not to trust him you muppet!

Ned and his buddy Jory. Ah Jory. An early lesson that it's best not to have friends in the lands of Westoros.

Gendry! The bastard son of King Robert. How Ned guesses this I haven't a clue.

Jaime. Ugh. Very judgemental for a sister fucker.

Back at the wall, Jon lays down the law regarding Sam. Gwan Jon. We gotta take all the humour we can get up here.

How is Viserys so blind? The egotistical eejit. Oh i can't wait to see him get his.

Awesome seeing Daeneyrs stand up to him. His face ahahahaha.

Sam pointing out the hypocrisy of the world. He'll go far this fella.

Jesus, Ros the brothel girl gets around doesn't she. And we find out why Jon is a snow rather than a Stark.

Ser Allister has a serious chip on his shoulder doesn't he. Our first mention of Mance Rayder too. A character built up to the last who turns out to be a huge disappointment.

Jousting! Love a bit of jousting. Especially when we get to meet the Mountain aka Gregor Clegane, brother of the hound and cause of his scars. No love lost between them. I can't wait to see what happens when they clash.......

Well that was violent. Eek. When jousting goes wrong. The Stark girls get their first glimpse of death. And Littlefinger (ugh) spots his chance to worm his way into Sansa's mind.

Cersei's sniffing around Ned. She knows he's up to no good. Get out Ned! She's just blatantly threatened you.

Tyrion bumps into Catelyn on the Kings road north. And BRONN!!! I love Bronn. He's brilliant. Scenes like this annoy me though because they make the world seem tiny.

Our first mention of Walder Frey. That decrepit old bastard.

Catelyn Tully is not a woman to be messed with. You done fucked up now Tyrion.

Episode 4 is once again packed. More story, more backstory, new characters introduced who we'll grow to love. Hodor, Bronn, Sam. The incidental people who mean more to the audience than many of the leads.

Next up - The Wolf And The Lion

Series 1 - 1  2  3
