Arya has arrived in Braavos in search of her destiny. The coin she gave the ship's captain clues him into what she wants.
Braavos is a spectacular looking place, full of culture and ethnicities but he knows where to bring her. The House Of Black And White. The place she'll find Jaqen Hagar, the man who can change his face.
It's a big imposing place but she walks straight up and the door is answered by an ancient man who turns her away even after she namedrops Jaqen and shows off her coin. Arya won't let things go that easily though and sits outside through the night.
In the Vale Pod and Brienne decide to take a break at an inn and who do they discover there? None other than Sansa and Littlefinger (ugh). That was easy.......too easy.
Brienne approaches her, pledging to protect her. She invokes her mother's name. Sansa doesn't believe her. Littlefinger makes her look like a mug.
Sansa also knows she was once loyal to the Lannister's . Not a hope is she going anywhere with her. Little does she know how much has changed in her absense.
A fight kicks off between Brienne and Littlefinger's men. They give chase after her and Pod. Brienne and Pod get split up and the guards divide to chase both. Just as Pod is about to get chopped down Brienne appears and saves him. Jesus she's deadly.
She makes quick work of the others and both of them seem safe at the moment. They've seen the direction Sansa is going so begin to follow. Brienne isn't a woman who gives up on her promises.
In Kings Landing Cersei has recieved an ominous message from Dorne where her daughter Myrcella is with the Martell's and engaged to their son. It's a threat on her life after the death of Oberyn Martell at the hands of a Lannister underling.
Jaime promises Cersei he'll go to Dorne and rescue Myrcella before harm comes to her. He's her uncle but also her father (Ya, i know) and for once he's going to act fatherly towards her.
To help him he seeks out Bronn. Bronn is an engaged man now. Things are looking up for him since the last time we saw him. He's a survivor. He's a Ser now. He's come a long way from the sell sword he once was.
To entice Bronn along to Dorne Jaime offers him a deal. A different bride, a far richer one. And a castle. Of course Bronn takes the deal. He doesn't care about love. He only cares about cold hard cash. Jaime stands a chance now.
In Dorne we see Ellaria Sand, widow of Oberyn Martell. She's watching over Myrcella and her betrothed Trystane Martell. She's still raging over Oberyn's death and you can tell she wants to take it out on innocent Myrcella.
We meet Doran Martell, the leader of Dorne. Oberyn was his brother and she's pissed he doesn't want revenge. He sees trial by combat as a righteous death so doesn't want revenge. She's not going to listen though. She's not a woman to be messed with.
In Meereen the Unsullied are on the hunt for the Sons of the Harpy and not having much luck.Unlike Daario Naharis who nabs one straight away. Daenerys wants to execute him. Selmy asks for restraint. She relents to a fair trial after Selm warns her about turning into her father.
Tyrion and Varys are on the road, on their way to see Daenerys. Tyrion is pissing and moaning constantly until Varys informs him that Cersei has a bounty on his head. The death of Shae and his part in it is still tearing him up.
In Cersei's gaff two bounty hunters deliver a head to Cersei. It looks like Tyrion but it's not him. Qyburn takes it to experiment on. At a council meeting she declares herself temporary Hand of the king and gives Qyburn a Maester's job much to the distaste of Pycelle.
Her uncle Kevan Lannister is offer the Maester of war position. He declines. He doesnt want to deal with Cersei, he wants to deal with the king himself, Tommen. He's just made a powerful enemy.
At the wall Gilly is learning to read courtesy of Stannis's daughter Shireen. Her mother Selyse doesn't want her associating with lowborn Gilly. Selyse is a strange one.
Stannis is mightily pissed off with Jon Snow for killing Mance with an arrow instead of letting the fire kill him slowly. In Stannis's head you can only get respect from people if they fear you and he sees Jon as too soft for his position.
Jon informs Stannis the Wildlings will never follow him because he executed Mance. Stannis informs Jon of a letter from a young girl named Lyanna Mormont. Stannis had asked the Mormont's to back him in taking back the north. But they won't recognise any northern leader not named Stark.
Then Davos informs Jon that the time has come for the Night's Watch to elect a new Lord Commander. Ser Allister is the likely candidate. Jon's life will be hell. Stannis offers to make Jon Snow into Jon Stark if he leaves the Night's Watch and rides with him.
Discussing it with Sam, Jon says he's going to refuse the offer. Sam thinks he mad but Jon is sticking by his vows. He's a man of his word. He's a fucking eejit tbh. he could get out, get married, get away, but nooooooo.
Maester Aemon asks about possible candidates to stand against Ser Allister. Janos Slynt advises the men to vote for Allister. Another older candidate is suggested but he's not popular. Then Sam pipes up.
He nominates Jon. Jon is mortified. Janos slags off Sam asking about Gilly. Sam relies she's grand and Janos should know considering he hid with her during the Wildling attack. Sam has created an enemy. His impassioned support for Jon turns a lot of heads.
The vote is cast. Jon and Allister are tied. Maester Aemon casts the deciding vote. Jon Snow is now the lord commander of the Night's watch. Most are pleased........some are not.
In Braavos Arya is attacked by a shower of robbers. The man who turned her away earlier intervenes. He removes his face. It's Jaqen Hagar. He tells her she must become no one, a girl without a face.
In Meereen a former slave called Mossador who has become part of Daenerys' council goes against her order and murders the captured rebel and hangs his corpse above the city as a warning.
Daenerys cannot let such blatant disobedience stand. Mossador is publicly executed and that kicks off a riot among the former slaves that Daenerys freed and their former masters. Daenerys has the run from the crowd.
That night Drogon, the missing dragon finally turns up. It's like he sensed Daenerys needed him. He flies away fast but at least she knows he's alive.
Not bad, not bad. Storylines for S5 are slowly settling into place. Hopefully Tyrion and Varys can inject a bit of life into Daenerys' storyline. It's been bogged down for far too long.
