Oh no. We're back with Bran under that tree. I'd forgotten he existed. He's back warging. And now he can travel back in time. He's in Winterfell watching his father Ned as a child playing with his brother Benjen. What is happening?
It Winterfell in a time of peace. Everyone is smiling and happy. And Bran gets to see his aunt Lyanna. A woman who died long before he was born. Then he sees Hodor as a child. A normal child called Wyllis who could speak properly. I wonder what happened him to turn him into the adult Hodor who could only say his own name?
The Three Eyed Raven takes Bran out of his vision. It's dangerous to stay in them too long. There's a chance the warger could lose their grip on reality. Bran loves the visions though, they offer happiness, far more than is available in the real world.
Bran sees Hodor in the corner and asks him what happened to him. Hodor can't answer him abd carries him out to see Meera who's grieving for her lost brother Jojen. She has no interest in what Bran's seen. She lost her world for Bran and he doesn't seem to realise it.
Leaf, one of the Three Eyed Raven's children tells Meera that Bran needs him. That she'll play an important role in his future. Leaf. Ha.
At Castle Black Ser Davos and a few good Night's Watch men are still under siege from the mutineers. Night time has come. Ser Alliser has said if they don't surrender by nightfall blood will spill. Just as the door between them is about to break down they hear a loud thud on the castle gate.
Its Wun Wun the giant!! Aboy the kid. He leads a charge of Wildlings into the castle. Edd's mission to get word to Tormund was a success. The Wildlings outnumber them 10-1 but Alliser demands they fight. Wun Wun splats a soldier off a wall and thats enough for them. The mutineers of the Night's Watch surrender fast.
Alliser is in a rage with Edd calling him a traitor. The irony. Edd tells the Wildlings to chain up the mutineers. Looks like Edd is the man in charge now. The sight of Jon Snow's body upsets Tormund. Once an enemy, they finally became friends. Then this.
In King's Landing Cersei's walk of shame is a source of mirth for the commoners of the city. One man who jokes about it all in public has his head smashed to a pulp by the now zombified Mountain.
Tommen and Jaime stand watch over Myrcella's body before her burial. Tommen doesn't want Cersei at the funeral after her shaming. He's king and she has no choice but to obey him. Jaime is rightly pissed off at him. Tommen is such a sap, he's the king and yet he's terrified of the High Sparrow.
The High Sparrow turns up and Jaime redirects his anger at him while demanding Tommen visit his mother. It's everything Jaime can do not to open the Sparrow's throat. He notes the the Faith Militant are very hypocritical in their punishments and they are powerless in reality.
The High Sparrow shows Jaime how untrue that statement is. They actually have enough disciples to overthrow the Lannister's if needed. A new power rises. And no one saw it coming.
Cersei receives a visit from Tommen. He's very apologetic and he know realises how important family is now that his own is getting smaller and smaller. Plus he needs her know how to be a good king.
In Meereen Tyrion is having an awkward get together with Varys, Missandei and a fully healed Grey Worm. No one knows who burned the fleet and then Tyrion finds out Astapor and Yunkai have been retaken by the Masters. Jesus, the storyline is going over old ground for the 3rd time now.
To take back the cities Tyrion decides to free the dragons chained up below Meereen. He's very wary as he's not sure how they'll react to him. Surprisingly they don't devour him. Maybe he's too small to be a threat to them. They let him unshackle them but they will not leave their cells. Their mammy chained them up and they won't leave til they see her.
In Braavos Arya is still begging. She looks banjaxed. Covered in cuts and bruises from her last encounter with the waif. The waif turns up to fight her again. Arya is ready but being blind she takes another hiding. She has no fear though and gets back up everytime she gets knocked to the ground
The waif suddenly disappears and Jaqen Hagar turns up asking Arya who she is. If Arya says her name She'll get her eyes back, food and a bed. Arya is determined to follow through on her training so tells him she is no one. This pleases him and he tells her she doesn't need to beg anymore. Thank god.
The bodies of the hunters sent after Sansa and Theon have been found near Winterfell and Roose Bolton is pissed off. Ramsay knows Sansa will head to Castle Black to Jon and wants to raid the place. Roose knows the entire North will turn against them after that course of action.
Just then news arrives that Roose's wife has given birth to a boy. Ramsay is instantly threatened by this news. His position as heir could be gone. So he does what all psychopaths do and knifes his father through the heart. His own personal coup of House Bolton has started.
He sends for Roose's wife Walda and her new son. Oh jesus. He brings her and his new baby brother into the castle kennels and sets his dogs on them. They both get ripped asunder. His new baby brother and rival heir is gone. A horrific moment. Thank fuck we don't see it happening. Christ.
On the road to Castle Black Brienne lets Sansa know that Arya is still alive. A few days ago Sansa thought she was alone and know she knows 4 of her family are still alive and kicking. She's delighted to hear Arya is ok. She's upset she didn't go with Brienne the first time her help was offered. She would have avoided the horror show that was Ramsay Bolton.
Theon has decided not to go North with Sansa. He's betrayed her family enough. The shame and guilt are pouring off the poor bastard. There's only one destination for him. He's going home. Back to the Iron Islands. Where he belongs. I used to hate Theon, no you'd feel nothing but pity for him.
In the Iron Islands Yara Greyjoy and her father Balon discus their failing war with the North. She wants to surrender but pride won't let him. What a waste of men and resources. She'd be a far better leader than Balon.
Balon storms out after their argument and runs into his brother Euron. It's been an age since they saw each other but Euron isn't here for a reunion. He's here to over throw balon and make the Iron Islands into a force to be reckoned with once again. He murders his brother fast. That's 2 family murders in this episode within 10 minutes. Dark.
At Balon's funeral Yara wants retribution. She also wants to be the Ironborn ruler but family succession isn't the done thing in the Iron Islands. She has to be chosen to be the ruler.
At the Wall Melisandre is down in the dumps. She's lost all faith in her abilities as a witch after the death of both Stannis and Jon. If her visions aren't coming true then what use is she to anyone?
Well she's of use to Ser Davos, thats who. He turns up at her room to ask her to ressurect Jon Snow. He knows she has the power, he's seen it with his own eyes. He asks her if she knows how? She's seen it done once before, a spell done by Thoros of Myr which brought back Beric Dondarrions, the leader of the Brotherhood without Banners.
She'll give it a go. Davos is fierce persuasive ain't he. They go to the chamber Jon's body is residing in. As part of the ritual she cleanses his corpse of blood as Davos, Edd and Ghost look on. She doesn't look one bit confident.
Ancient Valyrian words are chanted over his body. Some of his hair is clipped and burned. His head is baptised and she places her hands on his heart. They wait.....and wait......................and wait. Nothing. It seems the ritual has failed. Dejected they leave Jon's body and leave to prepare his funeral pyre.
Jon lies alone. Then with a gasp his eyes open wide. He's alive. Good man Jon. Great to see you back in the land of the living. But is he ok?
