Game Of Thrones S07 E07 - The Dragon And The Wolf

Bronn and Jaime stand atop the walls of King's Landing with The Unsullied standing below them. They've finally arrived from High Garden. They're here for the peace talks. Bronn is unsettled by the army of cockless men below him. He's even more unsettled when the wild Dothraki horde ride in to join the Unsullied. My god what an army.

In Blackwater bay outside King's Landing, Daenerys' fleet sails in past Euron Greyjoy's fleet. Wow. Everyone is finally about to meet up. Jaime, Cersei, Tyrion, Jon Snow, Daenerys, The Hound, Brienne, Davos, Euron, The Mountain. All our main characters except Arya and Sansa are here. This is going to be so cool.

The only one that isn't here yet is Daenerys, who of course wants to make a big entrance. Cersei is irritated both by that and the fact that she'll have to see Tyrion. She informs the Mountain that if anything goes sideways to kill Daenerys, Tyrion and Jon first.

The two groups meet outside the city in a lovely scene of reunion. Tyrion with Bronn and Pod. The affectation between them all is great, especially Pod and Tyrion. The Hound meets Brienne too. There's mutual respect here now and the Hound even cracks a smile when Brienne informs him that Arya is alive and thriving at Winterfell. A brilliant moment.

The meeting is to be held in the old Dragon pits outside King's Landing. Cersei and Jaime are there with Euron Greyjoy, the Iron Throne faction. Jon, Davos and Brienne represent the North. Tyrion, Theon and Ser Jorah are there for Daenerys.

It's Jon's first time seeing Jaime and Cersei since they came to Winterfell. Euron smirks at Theon. It's Brienne's and Jaime's first reunion in a while and you can see Brienne is still mad for him. Then the Hound and the Mountain meet up. Two brothers with nothing but hatred between them. They promise they'll meet again & next time there will be blood.

Cersei asks Tyrion where the dragon queen is. Just then they hear a roar and Daenerys swoops in on the back of Drogon. Euron is amazed. Cersei remains stoic in the face of awesomeness. Everyone is here. Talks can begin.

Euron starts things off on the wrong foot, threatening Yara's life if Theon doesn't submit to him straight away. This pisses everyone off. Tyrion & Jon start things properly. Jon speaks of the army of the dead. Straight away he knows Cersei isn't taking him serious. Until the Hound returns with the captured zombie. Then her reaction changes.

It rushes towards her screaming but is stopped just before by the rope attached to it. She's appalled to see it still lives even when the Hound chops it in half. Qyburn the medical maester is amazed. Jon demonstrates that fire and dragonglass are the only things that work against them. Cersei looks terrified. Euron too and he storms off.

He takes his fleet back to the Iron Islands. He wants no part in this. He just wants to protect his people. Hmmm. Cersei declares a truce until the army of the dead is dealt with. HMMMM. I trust neither of them. She asks Jon to rule just the north and not side with Daenerys. But Jon has already made his allegiance with Daenerys.

Like a fool he admits this and denies Cersei. Talks break down immediately. Jon, you fucking plum. Cersei will not join Daenerys in the battle against the dead. It's everyone for themselves now. Brienne implores Jaime to talk to Cersei. Daenerys rages at Jon for his naivety, as does Tyrion. Jon replies back that promises have to mean something.

Tyrion goes to meet Cersei to ask her to change her mind. He could be marching to his death. Cersei hates him, claiming his murder of their father led to the deaths of Myrcella and Tommen. She claims he's working with Daenerys to destroy the Lannisters. He claims he isn't because he stopped her from laying waste to King's Landing with her dragons.

She tells him that when he killed their father Tywin he opened up their family to the wolves and they descended in the form of the Tyrells and the Faith Militant. Everything that happened since he fired that crossbow bolt is on his head. Tyrion knows it.

He offers his head to Cersei to give her peace. The Mountain unsheathes his sword. She chooses to let him live for now. There's still an ounce of family love in her for him it seems. While she talks Tyrion realises she's pregnant. Her silence speaks volumes.

Daenerys and Jon talk in the dragon pits. Her family used to chain up their dragons here. She speaks of her future. Jon asks her is she sure she can never have an heir seeing as the witch who told her so was the same witch who murdered her husband. They reaffirm their allegiance to each other just as the 3 Lannister siblings return.

Her chat with Tyrion and her impending baba has convinced her to join the fight against the dead. She'll send the Lannister army north. She asks Daenerys to remember that she chose to fight with them while they offered her nothing in return.

In Winterfell Sansa has received word that Jon has bent the knee to Daenerys Targaryen. She's troubled and Littlefinger (ugh) isn't helping matters. Plus Sansa is worried that Arya will come for her if she takes a stance against Jon, her favourite sibling. Littlefinger uses her worries to put a bigger wedge between the sisters. He's a shitbag.

He tells Sansa he always assumes the worst possible outcome. What could that be here? Sansa says it's that Arya would kill her and become the Lady of Winterfell. Littlefinger smirks. The smug fucker.

Daenerys, Jon and the gang are back at Dragonstone. They plan to travel to Winterfell to start preparations for the great war.  Jorah asks Daenerys to fly to Winterfell on a dragon to be safe but she decides to sail so she can plan on the way. Plus it will look better to the common folk who she needs to support her.

Theon tells Jon he's going to sale to the Iron Island's to rescue his sister Yara and kill his uncle Euron. Jon tells Theon that his choice and bravery makes him a Stark. He's doing Ned Stark proud. One of Theon's soldiers objects but a beatdown from Theon convinces the others that Theon still has the balls to take on his uncle and win. Good boy Theon.

In Winterfell Sansa has Arya brought before her and the Northern Lords to see what she's up to. Littlefinger is loving this. His plan has come to fruition. Then Sansa turns the tables. They are here to judge him. Not Arya. FUCK YES! Littlefinger did not see this coming.

Bran has used his Three Eyed Raven power to tell Sansa and Arya exactly what he's been doing. He denies all of it. His murder of Lysa Arryn. His murder of Jon Arryn. The Stark/Lannister conflict was his doing. He sold Sansa to the Bolton's. He turned sister against sister. He's behind every bit of trouble the Starks have ever had.

Using the dagger Bran gave her Arya slits his throat in front of the room. The judgement passed. The sentence carried out. It's a brilliantly satisfying death scene. One that's been coming for years. Oh man that hits the spot.

In Kings landing Jaime has begun planning to send the army north. Cersei laughs at him. She has no intention of helping the dragon queen. Plus Euron didn't abandon her. He's gone to Essos to hire the Golden Company with a loan from the Iron Bank. The best mercenaries in the world. She'll take on what's left of Daenerys army after they take on the dead.

Jaime is disgusted with her. She's finally alienated him. He makes his choice. For once he does the right thing. He leaves despite her threats to have the Mountain kill him. Cersei Lannister is once again devastated. Jaime Lannister rides north to take on the dead as snow falls on King's Landing. The King Slayer vs the Night King.

A new group arrives at Winterfell. It's Sam and Gilly and baba Sam. Woohoo. Bran informs Sam of what he, as the Three Eyed Raven, knows about Jon. He is a Targaryen. Son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. He has a legitimate claim to the throne. His real name is Aegon Targaryen. He's also the nephew of Daenerys Targaryen. Eek.

Double eek because on a ship heading towards Winterfell Jon Snow is standing outside Daenerys chamber. The attraction between them is undeniable. He's about to go in. She's about to let him in. They get it on. Jon is riding his aunt. Daenerys is riding her nephew. This is so messed up. Tyrion knows what's going on but walks away.

Sam and Bran need to tell Jon what's the story. He's never been a bastard but he's spent his entire life being treated like one. So that's him, Daenerys and Gendry (everyone forgets about him) that have legitimate claims to the throne.

Arya and Sansa reconcile with each other in Winterfell. They realise they are way stronger together and they ever were apart. They are wolves. Together they are a pack. In the castle a warging Bran casts his vision north.

At the wall, Beric and Tormund are keeping watch for the dead when something far scarier appears. It's the Night King. On the back of the resurrected Viserion. His icy blue flames cut through the wall with ease. Whole segments of it collapse and wildlings and Night's watch men die in their hundreds. Hopefully Tormund & Beric have survived.

Now the dead have a way through to the south. The war to end all wars is finally here. Whoa.

A superb finale. The peace talks were amazing. Seeing everyone together in the pits was hair raising. Brienne & The Hound. Jon & Cersei. Pod & Tyrion. Tyrion & Cersei. The Hound & The Mountain. Brilliant. Then the death of Littlefinger. One of the most satisfying kills in seven years of the show. And that final shot. All the cards are on the table now. S8 is starting tomorrow and im giddy. Will it live up to the hype? Will every story get a proper ending in only 6 episodes? God i hope so. Who will survive and what will be left of them?? Who knows.
